Jepson Prairie Wildflower & Critter Walk is on Saturdays & Sundays through May 12, 2024, from 10am – 12pm in Dixon.
DIXON – Embark on an enlightening adventure at Jepson Prairie Preserve! Thanks to rejuvenating winter rains, the prairie transforms into a tapestry of vibrant colors year after year. Trained docents will lead you on an educational walk through the park where you’ll learn why vernal pool ecosystems are essential for biodiversity and how they support species such as tiger salamanders, fairy shrimp, and other rare aquatic life. Blooming wildflowers, opportunities for birdwatching, and a chance to spot the endangered Delta green ground beetle make this excursion perfect for anyone who loves nature.
