WALNUT CREEK – The youth theater company, I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center, brings the beloved musical Newsies to life, with young performers stepping into the roles of Jack Kelly, Katherine Plumber, Crutchie, Davey, and the determined newsboy crew. Inspired by the real Newsboys’ Strike of 1899, the story follows these characters as they challenge injustice, find their voice, and turn struggle into momentum. With two rotating casts sharing the spotlight, this production highlights teamwork, grit, and rising courage, an underdog tale made especially compelling when told by the generation it celebrates.
