Contra Costa Musical Theatre presents “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek from October 11 – November 9, 2019.
WALNUT CREEK – You’ll fall in love with the nightlife in this toe-tapping, seat-swaying musical that flows with fun. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is the quirky story of two drag queens and a transgender woman who encounter an array of colorful characters who aren’t exactly receptive to their lifestyle. In a trip across the remote Australian desert in a lavender bus, encountering mishaps and other calamities, everyone finds a chance to change their views of what’s “normal” and what’s real.
The show is peppered with a hit parade of dance favorites, including “It’s Raining Men,” “I Will Survive,” “Hot Stuff” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” The original musical was so successful in its native Australia that its Broadway debut was produced by Bette Midler and received many awards and nominations.
