WALNUT CREEK — We continue our monthly series highlighting the best parks in Lafayette and Walnut Creek with one that brings the world of nature to the bustling downtown area. The 16.7-acre Civic Park is the perfect spot for your next family outing, located mere steps from the Walnut Creek Library and Civic Arts Studios. Relax under the shade of centuries-old oak trees and discover the more than 25 species of butterflies in the habitat gardens.

Toddlers and older kids will love the playground, featuring slides, monkey bars, climbing structures and more. Non-reservable picnic tables and clean restrooms make for an ideal setting for birthday parties or other celebrations. Explore beyond the park thanks to easy access to the Iron Horse Regional Trail and the Creek Walk.
