Bitter and irritable\, she uses her sour personality to keep it that way. When the overly cheerful Marilyn Dunne is assigned to join her\, Abby fails to scare her away. Marilyn sees this as a challenge and makes her a bet: if Abby can make Marilyn angry\, she’ll move out\, but if Marilyn can frighten Abby\, she stays.
