Wendy the Welder Exhibit at Mare Island

There will be a Wendy the Welder Exhibit at Mare Island in Vallejo on Sundays, June 7 – 28, 2026, at Mare Island Art Studios.

VALLEJO – A powerful new exhibition is coming to Mare Island Art Studios, shining long‑overdue light on the women whose labor shaped a critical chapter of American history. Created by Vallejo artist JeanCherie in collaboration with guest artists, the artworks celebrate the more than 11,000 women who built ships at Mare Island during World War II.
Wendy the Welder stands at the heart of the exhibit, representing the strength and resilience of the women whose contributions helped shape both local and national history. Following the opening reception at Mare Island Art Studios on Sunday, June 7, the exhibit will be open for visitation every Sunday throughout the month.
