Time to get out and soak up the sunshine. Enjoy casual dining at its best, from Winters to Fairfield!

Hooby’s Brewing

WINTERS – Locals and travelers alike are in for one treat after another at Hooby’s Brewing. This new, family-owned and operated restaurant/tasting room offers well thought out casual dining and tastings inside or out.

Grab a fun game at the door to play with friends/family while you dine in or head out to the (dog-friendly) patio to soak up the sunshine. Try some far-out menu items like the Pesto Grilled Cheese Waffles (my favorite) made with parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto on crispy Belgian style waffle wedges (4 for $9), or the Smoked Deviled Eggs (6 for $5.50) made with bacon, crispy potato, chives and paprika. You will love to pair either of these with your favorite local brew!

Hooby’s Brewing is open daily and offers brunch on Sundays. Hours and menu are available at HoobysBrew.com.

VACAVILLE – This fun, family restaurant with patio dining is located in the Nut Tree Plaza adjacent to the famous merry-go-round, playground and train, and will be a hit with everyone in your party.

I personally love the menu, as you can order many items in small, large or family sizes as well as mini, small, medium and large pizzas. The menu is extensive with appetizers, soups, salads, entrées, pizzas and desserts. Wine and beer are also available. Pricing ranges from $4.50-37.75. Start with the Beef Meatball appetizer that’s just oozing with tradition, then venture out to an exotic pizza like the Veneto – made with pancetta, scarlet royal grapes, goat cheese and wild baby arugula – both very tasty!

Heritage House Cafe

VACAVILLE – Stroll downtown Vacaville and drop in to the down-home cooking style of Heritage House Cafe. This cafe is all indoors but will take your taste buds back to momma’s home cooking.

We stopped by on a Saturday morning to enjoy some of their breakfast selections. Arrive early as they are busy and have a waiting list you’ll need to add your own name to.

I highly recommend the Loaded Grits, a large bowl of bacon, onion and cheese covered grits ($8.99). They were done to perfection and delicious! Also try their Heritage House Special, a 3 XL egg omelet with avocado, tomato, green pepper, ham and American cheese. We ordered them with the Rosemary Potatoes – all for $12.69.

Heritage House is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Slanted Tree Kitchen and Taproom

FAIRFIELD – WOW, what a surprise! This little restaurant and taproom is a must visit, boasting great ambiance with a full menu, tasting room, and the largest whiskey selection from Vacaville to Benicia.

We arrived on a Monday around 4 and by 5:30 the place was packed. It’s a great locale to watch the game while enjoying some fun, friendly conversation. Taste a flight, enjoy a great cocktail and treat yourself to some upscale bar-style food. Our favorites were the Thai Peanut Bacon Burger (Angus beef patty, Thai slaw, Thai peanut sauce, Sriracha, bacon, onions and jalapeños), and the Cuban Sandwich (pulled pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and house-made spicy sauce on a baguette). All delicious and fun! Tell Caesar Your Town Monthly sent you!

Happy hour is 3-6pm and 9pm-close.
